There has clearly been a lot of testing going on over at MSN/Live of late. I have seen very strange results on Indextools - one word phrases that have generated traffic but the website no longer ranks or is not even relevant to the performing website. I have been up to my eyeballs in stats and quite frankly I hate it!!! I want to see a clear picture of what search engines generate in terms of traffic and what phrases have generated it. Live seems to be generating a lot of crap. But I ask my self do I care? I mean the amount of people that use MSN/Live is considerably smaller than Yahoo and of course Google. So I officially don’t care about MSN they are officially annoying and do not do a great job. There - feel better now!!:)

Well a lot of us have spent many years searching for the holy grail - ranking number 1 on Google for competitive terms. I found out about 3 years ago that there was never going to be one method that would make the difference and that only a logical combination of methods was to help any website rank high. As soon as you realize this you will stop jumping on every new fashion and focus on what is more useful. The best question to ask yourself is - would I do this work if the search engines did not exist? If not then don’t bother. This more natural approach will help any website owner to achieve better rankings over time.

Marketing your website used to be about PPC (Sponsored listings) and of course SEO (Natural listings). Nowadays because of the competitive nature of online marketing we are being driven to explore many different subsections of the web. Social Marketing for want of a better word has become an important strategy for some ‘Not all!’ businesses and personal website owners. I believe there are many ways of generating traffic to a website the key thing is to identify what area suits the industry you are in.
